Ending the long wait for months, Jailbreak iOS 11 is now charged up with exciting news updates. In fact, the release of LiberiOS 11 and Electra jailbreak is now in work for all iOS 11.0 to iOS 11.1.2. But unfortunately, there is no working way to jailbreak above iOS 11.1.2 since there seems no progress to the exploits found later. So this is considering all state of the jailbreak for the latest iOS 11 firmware up to iOS 11.2.5. If you like taking Cydia on iOS 11, go through all these simple facts to learn in profound about the state of jailbreak.
The release of the latest iOS 11 firmware runs back last September 2016 from which tons of new features and updates have introduced to the public. Some of them are as ARKit, Automatic Setting up, better options for Apple Notes together with Document Scanning, new Files App, Maps with Indoor and Lane support, Apple Pencil upgrades, Multitasking iPad, Live Photos and so much more. And for the most interesting fact, we have iOS 11 jailbreak privileges at the moment from both LiberiOS and Electra update.
The first major upgrade of iOS 11.1 has released by Apple in October 2016 whereas more than a month later from the official iOS 11 release to the public going through a number of beta testing as well. The update focuses better battery life, a set of new Emojis and more in targeting the overall stability of the whole firmware. So there you find new Emojis, 3D Touch App switcher, support in multiple Emoji suggestions on Keyboard, updates reachability behavior, better battery and more. And thanks to Jonathan Levin for LiberiOS and CoolStar for Electra, Jailbreak iOS 11.1 is now in work following semi-untethered flow.
Several days from the first major iOS 11.1, Apple has brought iOS 11.1.1 Download rights to all 64-bit devices. And the main intention for bringing the update here is to provide with several fixes and minor improvements from the time iOS 11.1 release. Mainly it fixes the irritating bug of auto-correct in the keyboard also with a reliable fix to Hey Siri not responding.
This is also another firmware that has benefited with the release of LiberiOS and Electra jailbreak. So you can improve what it all capable simply by following semi-untethered Jailbreak iOS 11.1.1. But until Saurik brings updated version of Cydia, there will be no chance to Download Cydia iOS 11 and up.
About a week after iOS 11.1.1 released to the public, we came across the update of iOS 11.1.2. It was another minor upgrade to all 64-bit devices that has come addressing a number of bugs just like iPhone X screen unresponsive when exposed to cold temperature. There were several more as well which accordingly all the bugs met after iOS 11.1.1 released. And for the most interesting fact, iOS 11.1.2 was a remarkable software update when it has become the final, both LiberiOS and Electra being giving jailbreak rights. So those who are remained on iOS 11.1.2 can use either LiberiOS or Electra to Jailbreak iOS 11.1.2 successfully. But there too you meet the trouble with Cydia Download iOS 11.1.2 since there seems no relevant update yet.
The second major iOS 11 upgrade has come about a month after iOS 11.1 first major release. And just as expected, it has brought a number of new features to the operating system just as much as with concern to several fixes. In brief they are as, Apple Pay cash for person-person transactions, faster wireless charging for flagship iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus with 7.5 W support, new sports section, better support for WiFi and Bluetooth on/off with so much more. And on the side of the fixes and other under improvements, Apple has also a done a fair job by giving rights to Download iOS 11.2.
When iOS 11.2 comes patched all the bugs that have turned jailbreak iOS 11 possible, there’s no longer a way to jailbreak and Cydia on hand to be used in any firmware after iOS 11.1.2. But as to the powerful demonstrations Alibaba’s Pandora Labs has taken up Jailbreak iOS 11.2 has proven possible for the first time. Developers confirm it is following untethered jailbreak from iOS 11.1.2 to iOS 11.2. And this could probably with used of a different exploit from Ian Beer’s since it adds support for iOS 11.2. But anyway, Pandora jailbreak has not yet surfed to the public from which we are clear that it is kind of testing. However this proves successful iPhone X jailbreak with Cydia on screen.
More than a week after the release of iOS 11.2, Apple has given rights to Download iOS 11.2.1. The update is focused on several bug fixes as well as slight improvements. Mainly, it come addressing massively reported HomeKit vulnerability with no trouble for HomeKit remote sharing.
Although iOS 11.2.1 is good in concern stable and bug-free operating system, there seems no advantage yet for those who expect Jailbreak iOS 11.2.1. In fact, we still not find any positive feedback to jailbreaking 11.2.1 although some says there could be a chance with Electra if CoolStar continues updating. And for more exciting fact, Russ Cox from Google has recently come with another powerful exploiting from which probably a chance could turn in the way to jailbreak iOS 11.2.1. As to the exploring and reporting, it is a kernel level bug with more chance for jailbreak and Cydia.
About a month from iOS 11.2.1 release to the public, Apple has brought iOS 11.2.2. It is another minor upgrade to the operating system that addresses vulnerabilities as Meltdown and Spectre. Other than that, there is more concern for better security and fixes making your overall iOS 11 experience stable. But in the chance of Jailbreak iOS 11.2.2, we find no update yet whereas there seems no progress to the exploits found later. However, it looks like there going to be some chance in the future either from CoolStar’s Electra or recently found Russ Cox’s kernel level bug.
iOS 11.2.5 is the current signing firmware for all 64-bit devices which is mainly in targets fixes and improvements. So it gives more space to fixes where the provided security is very high than the versions previous. In fact, the point refers “ID CVE-2018-4082” in the security section is a proof of its high security where the recently revealed Kernel Level exploit is patched. So if any developer going to make use of the Kernel level exploit for the use of future jailbreak, that would close gates to jailbreak iOS 11.2.5. Then in case if you are already upgraded to iOS 11.2.5, you are out of luck for jailbreak and Cydia this time since there is no identified solution and no way to downgrade.
As to the rule of jailbreaking, you better stick to the lowest possible if in the need of increasing the chance for jailbreak. But at the moment you are out of luck since Apple has stopped signing older firmware officially. So at the moment, iOS 11.2.5 is the only signing firmware by Apple from which a number of security aspects are aimed. But in case if you are on any of iOS 11.0 to iOS 11.1.2, you have two options by now as LiberiOS and Electra to get successful with jailbreak. And there is also hope for iOS 11.2.1 and some firmware upper. So for the moment my advice is not to upgrade as Apple says since there seems just a minimal chance to jailbreak latest iOS 11.2.5 when compared with the firmware previous.
LiberiOS 11 Jailbreak is the first ever iOS 11 jailbreak that came to the public notice thanks to Jonathan Levin. As expected, the tool comes serving through iOS 11.0 to iOS 11.1.2. And when it adds support to all 64-bit devices, that have included the flagship iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and also iPhone X.
Ever since iOS 11 came to the public view back in September 2016, we came to know various stories about jailbreak. And there, Google’s Ian Beer’s tfp0 exploit and async wake vulnerability were more attention grabbing giving more chance possible for jailbreak iOS 11. As just as expected, Jonathan Levin has made use of it making LiberiOS 11 jailbreak a public solution. But there was no support for Cydia or substrate support where as Saurik has not yet updated Cydia iOS 11. So in that way, the best part of being jailbroken is still missing for iOS 11 which we could expect very soon.
LiberiOS is again a semi-untethered jailbreak that runs through Cydia impactor by side-loading the IPA. So it is bound to expiry after every 7 days if you use a regular Apple ID for the signing. But in case if you use the paid Apple Developer ID, you will remain unexpired for about a year with all jailbreak benefits. And remember in every time you boot the device, you will have to rerun the jailbreak app to keep the device jailbroken. Here you are the complete steps guide.
Installing Jailbreak apps and Tweaks will here come tough since you miss support for Cydia and substrate. So until then have jailbreak safely for which you can install Cydia once Saurik bring the update.
Electra is the most recent jailbreak release news for the community from which iOS 11.0 to iOS 11.1.2 operating 64-bit devices got chance. But when the developer CoolStar himself started calling it a toolkit it is more intended to developers and theme creators. So it appears to be another semi-untethered tool which is in use of the Ian Beer’s async_awake powerful exploits same as LiberiOS. But up to now that does not support installing Cydia after jailbreak where as Saurik has not yet publicly announced the Cydia Download iOS 11 support.
As of the time being Electra jailbreak is in the stage of beta releasing its successful 10th version. And as to the CoolStar himself, there is more chance for another Electra update adding support for versions above iOS 11.1.2. But it is yet unknown whether that going to make jailbreak and Cydia download possible up to iOS 11.2.5 targeting the times Apple going make iOS 11.3 public.
We never know what will happen in the road ahead of jailbreak and Cydia. But for the moment, there seems positive response from various reputed developers leaving us in more hopes to Jailbreak iOS 11 in the times up. So stay tuned with more hopes for better jailbreak and Cydia iOS 11 times.
